Time Out Ten
I Can't Get Started
Billie Holiday

For this item you need to be able to stop for ten minutes.
We are often moving on to the next job, the next meeting, scrolling down social media, taking the next call ......'Time Out Ten' asks you to stop for ten minutes and listen to a particular piece of music; to find a time when you won't be interrupted, when you can put in/on your headphones and chill out. Ten minutes isn't long.

There are days and times when it is hard to pick up momentum, whatever we have to do. This often happens after lunch; when it has been hard to get up in the morning, or on those hot or cold days when we would rather be somewhere else. It happens to us all. I Can't Get Started might be a love song but the title gives us the chance to recall Billie Holiday's fine recording with Lester Young from 1938 for our ten minutes time out. Time to appreciate how good this music is - and hopefully inspire us.

Billie is accompanied here by Buck Clayton (trumpet); Lester Young (tenor sax); Margaret "Queenie" Johnson (piano); Freddy Green (guitar); Walter Page (bass); and Joe Jones (drums).
