About Sandy Brown Jazz

Some time ago, this website began as a page about the late Scottish clarinetist Sandy Brown. Since then, the site has grown to become an online magazine, What's New, about all kinds of jazz, and particularly about the stories behind the music.

Each month we feature  news, articles, new album releases,  videos ..... and some past items that may be new to you.

Sandy Brown grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland, and became one of the foremost British Jazz clarinet players and a leading acoustic engineer. Together with Edinburgh trumpeter Al Fairweather, they created the music of McJazz. Sandy died in 1975 leaving a rich musical legacy. You can read more about Sandy Brown here.

Sandy Brown

Sandy and Al pushed traditional jazz into 'mainstream', a bridge between classic and modern jazz. This website provides a similar 'bridge'   about all aspects of jazz.

You can also visit our Contents page where you will find a guide to the topics on the site and in our archive.

I hope you enjoy it and find it interesting.
